People - John Wilkinson
John Wilkinson is a specialist Public Relations Consultant who started his PR and marketing career in 1992 in local government with Cardiff Council before joining the then Department for Social Security as a press officer in the Benefits Agency and Child Support Agency. Leaving public service in 1997, John has spent the past 12 years in consultancy specialising in issues and media management for a range of private and public sector clients covering portfolios such as financial services, change management, health, tourism, transport, legal services, education, planning and regeneration. After working at Good Relations and Freshwater UK, in May 2009 he founded his own communications consultancy, Wilkinson Public Relations.
John holds the CAM Foundation Advanced Diploma in Communications Studies, with a distinction in PR. He is a member of Public Affairs Cymru and the Treasurer of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in Wales. He is committed to CPD and is working towards achieving Accredited Practitioner Status with the CIPR.
