Daran Hill is the Managing Director and Principal Consultant at Positif Politics, which he founded in 2006. He leads consultancy, research and monitoring work for a range of clients in all sectors and has a total overview of all aspects of the company's work. His specialisms include horizon scanning and picking up the political mood, which enables clients to be forewarned of shifts in policy and political emphasis.
He has worked in senior positions in Welsh public affairs consultancies since 1999. As the most authoritative public affairs consultant in Wales, he is well-connected across the political spectrum, and his experience and communications ability has been recognised in numerous media performances. He is also co-editor of the online writing venture Wales Home.
He is an accomplished trainer and has extensive knowledge of the Government of Wales Act and the Assembly's resulting new legislative powers. He has delivered training, information and insight into political processes to a variety of audiences: in-house to clients; to paid seminars; and in mass and personalized training environments. He is a fluent Welsh speaker.
Daran was National Organiser of the successful "Yes for Wales" devolution campaign, which won the referendum that led to the establishment of the National Assembly. He is also a past Chair of Public Affairs Cymru, the umbrella body for public affairs professionals in Wales, and is respected and well known throughout Welsh civic life. He is a Trustee of the Bevan Foundation and a Fellow of the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
