Positif Politics

Case Study - British Association of Social Workers

Tight circle of coloured people arms aloft
The British Association of Social Workers (BASW) were eager to react to the largely negative publicity their industry have received in recent years. Positif Politics suggested in the first instance that we should undertake an anonymous and independent political audit on their behalf. The audit involved face to face meetings with around a quarter of Assembly Members who were representative of Wales by gender, party and geographical location.

The outcome proved interesting resulting in a report that will form the basis of BASW's future campaigning work both externally and within the Social Services fraternity.

At the launch of the results of the audit at the Senedd, the Deputy First Minister for Health and Social Services announced that the Welsh Assembly Government had responded and accepted the report's principal recommendation and that indeed government policy was being developed to implement the recommendation.

This demonstrates the importance Positif Politics' role is in developing honest and intelligent audits and proves that not only can they prove to be invaluable but can also help influence government policy.
