Positif Politics and Bevan Foundation announce "One Wales - Two Years" Conference (May 2009)

July 2007 made political history in Wales. The One Wales Agreement between Labour and Plaid Cymru is one of the boldest political initiatives ever undertaken in Wales. It has been an interesting arrangement between the two biggest parties in the Assembly and has come at a time of economic, financial, constitutional and legislative change. Two years into this government, and with two years to go before the next Assembly Election, it is timely to look at the way One Wales is working and delivering.

Has it delivered, where will it go next, and what will it have achieved? These are the questions a major new Conference aims to answer. The Bevan Foundation in partnership with Positif Politics have come together again to hold an innovative Conference on contemporary Welsh poltiics and policy. It follows the same approach as last year's well-received Conference on the new Welsh legislative system.

Speakers confirmed for "One Wales, Two Years" on Monday 6th July at the All Nations Centre in the Heath, Cardiff include Counsel General for Wales Carwyn Jones AM; Nick Bourne AM, leader of the Welsh Conservative group in the Assembly; Kirsty Williams AM, Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats; and Vaugham Roderick from BBC Wales. The full programme for the event can be downloaded here.

Commenting on the event, Daran Hill from Positif Politics said: "The One Wales Agreement is the blueprint for what the Labour – Plaid Cymru coalition aims to deliver in a four year programme. Covering education, health, the economy, housing, the environment, culture and so much more, its implementation merits examination by anyone involved in making, influencing or examining policy and politics in Wales. This Conference is the first time any independent organisations have tried to evaluate the progress and future of One Wales. As we mark two years since the historic agreements of July 2007, this event brings together leading politicians, key policy players and informed commentators for a dialogue on the current and future state of One Wales. It’s a day you can’t afford to miss."

Quantity AND Quality - Positif Politics passes the 200 client mark (May 2009)

Positif Politics has kept up its reputation for reaching out to new clients and has confirmed that over 200 organisations have now bought its services during three years of trading.

Commenting on this watermark, Managing Director Daran Hill said: "This achievement has been based on offering a strong mix of services both to ongoing clients and to those who perhaps need one-off training or assistance with a discrete project. Our flexible approach means we can reach out to new markets in an innovative and accessible way. We've built the company in a way that makes sure we match quantity with quality."

Llyr Roberts, Senior Consultant at Positif Politics and head of the monitoring and information team, said: "We are pleased that alongside increasing our reach we have also strengthened our core business in recent months. Political monitoring remains key to the company and we're pleased to have recently welcomed Environment Agency Wales and leading Welsh charity Tenovus to our regular client base."

Positif Politics celebrates training programme still going strong into 2009 (April 2009)

Positif Politics has continued to deliver an energetic training programme in 2009 based on its specialisms in Wales-only legislation and understanding public policy..

Looking back at the first three months of the year, Managing Director of Positif Politics Daran Hill said: "Continuing to offer high quality, diverse training opportunities has been a key objective of the company as we have moved into our fourth year of trading. We are the only public affairs agency in Wales that prioritises training as part of our core business and the strength of our programme demonstrates beginning to offer subject-specific open training courses was the right decision for Positif Politics a year ago."

Integral to the success of the training programme is the involvement of Huw Edwards, an Associate Lecturer at the National School of Government and consultant specialising in helping organisations understanding Parliament, devolution and public policy. From 1997 to 2005 Huw was the MP for Monmouth and is also a former member of the House of Commons Welsh Affairs Select Committee.

During the first six months of 2009, Positif Politics has delivered or plans to deliver the following courses:

In addition to these courses, Positif Politics will also continue to offer in-house training courses to a range of organisations including University of Wales Newport, Bristol Myers Squibb, Mencap Partners in Politics project, Learning Disability Wales, GSK, and Community Housing Cymru.
